Our Story
We are a small family business, creating premium plant supports that are uniquely made to your plants’ needs.
Our story started a few years ago in a rather large garden in the Surrey Hills. Istvan, our founder who is a professional gardener, was employed to create a magnificent garden but he struggled to find high quality plant supports that would do the job properly. This was not the first time Istvan faced this problem, but this was the moment he decided to create his own plant supports, designed to suit specific plants.
The unique plant supports were a great success and Istvan started to craft more designs for different gardens and plants. Soon Metalisk was born and the rest is history. Today, in our family workshop, we hand craft each piece to the highest standard to ensure our products do the job and last a lifetime.

Istvan Turcsan
Istvan is a professional gardener with a degree in horticulture. With over 10 years of experience, he has created and maintained many magnificent gardens to the highest standards. Istvan’s interests in horticulture stem from his grandfather’s passion for caring for nature:
“My greatest inspiration has been my grandfather. He was a forester and I have very fond childhood memories of spending my school holidays with him discovering forests and the beauty of nature. As a child, I marvelled at his knowledge and wisdom of plants, trees and environment, and I grew up being just as passionate about horticulture as he was. I take great pride in my work and consider myself very fortunate to spend my days doing what I truly love.”
Janos Kepiro
Janos is the creator of our handmade plant supports. He is highly skilled in metal work and takes great pride in crafting our beautiful products to the highest standards. Janos is personally responsible for the welding of each of the plant supports we produce.
“I find working with metal very rewarding. There is something magical about creating useful objects out of chunks of metal. When I’m in my workshop, the world disappears and I feel a bit like an artist: crafting something bespoke and beautiful. Customers often send us pictures of how the plant supports are used in their gardens and I always look at these pictures with great pride. Knowing that my work makes someone’s life better, is the most rewarding aspect of my job.”
Through our work, we soon discovered that there is a need for high quality plant supports that often need to be specific to certain types of plants. As we struggled to find products that were the right fit, the idea of creating specific plant supports started to take shape and Metalisk was born. We ensure our products are made to the highest quality whilst continually looking to widen existing ranges and introduce new products to help customers.
